Aussiedoodles combine the Australian Shepherd's intense herding drive with the Poodle's intelligence โ creating one of the smartest and most athletic designer breeds. This is not a casual pet. Aussiedoodles need a genuine exercise commitment, and they'll herd children, other pets, and even you if they're bored. Incredible dogs for active owners; a poor fit for couch-potato households.
2 walks per day, 30โ60 minutes each, plus training or dog sports
Aussiedoodles are working dogs in a designer package. Plain walks aren't enough โ they need varied routes, off-leash running, fetch, agility, or other structured activities. Mental exercise is equally critical. A physically tired but mentally bored Aussiedoodle will still be destructive.
2 meals per day
High-energy dogs burn a lot of fuel. Adjust portions based on actual activity level โ a day with a 2-hour hike needs more food than a rest day. Logging both exercise and meals helps you calibrate.
Brushing every 2โ3 days, professional grooming every 6โ8 weeks
Coat varies from wavy to curly depending on genetics. The Aussie side can bring a thicker undercoat that mats in humid weather. Brush thoroughly after any outdoor adventure to remove debris and prevent tangles.
Recommended vet schedule: Annual exam, MDR1 gene test recommended
