Cockapoos have been around since the 1960s โ long before 'designer dogs' were a thing. They combine the Cocker Spaniel's cheerful energy with the Poodle's intelligence. They're often dismissed as lap dogs, but Cocker Spaniels were bred as working gun dogs, and Cockapoos inherit that stamina. They need real walks, not just garden time.
2 walks per day, 20โ30 minutes each
Don't be fooled by their size โ Cockapoos have genuine Spaniel energy and will happily walk for hours if you let them. Two solid walks a day plus some play keeps them happy. They love varied routes and sniffing time.
2 meals per day
Small dogs have fast metabolisms but small stomachs. Consistent meal times and careful portion control matter โ even a few extra treats a day adds up on a 15-pound dog.
Brushing every 2โ3 days, professional grooming every 6โ8 weeks
Cockapoo coats range from loose waves to tight curls. All types need regular brushing to prevent matting, especially around the ears and legs. Their floppy Spaniel ears also need weekly cleaning.
Recommended vet schedule: Annual exam, regular ear checks
Three features that matter most for this breed:
See exactly how far your Cockapoo walks โ you'll be surprised how much ground they cover
Stay on top of brushing and ear cleaning to prevent matting and infections
Track ear check schedules and annual exams so nothing falls through the cracks
