A sturdy Pug-Beagle mix that fixes some Pug problems but adds Beagle stubbornness
Exercise
30โ45 min/day
Intensity
moderate
Weight
15โ30 lbs
Lifespan
12โ14 years
Puggles combine the Pug's companion nature with the Beagle's nose and sturdiness. They tend to have fewer breathing issues than purebred Pugs thanks to the Beagle's longer snout, but they inherit the Beagle's legendary stubbornness and food obsession. They're charming, social dogs that need more exercise than Pug owners expect and more patience than Beagle owners expect.
2 walks per day, 15โ20 minutes each
Puggles need more exercise than a Pug but less than a Beagle. Two moderate walks daily keeps them healthy and burns off enough energy to reduce stubbornness at home. Watch for breathing difficulty in heat โ some inherit more Pug-like airways than others. Nose-driven walks with sniffing time satisfy their Beagle brain.
2 meals per day
Puggles inherit food obsession from both sides โ Pugs and Beagles are both notorious overeaters. They will eat anything, anytime, and gain weight fast. Strict portion control and treat logging are essential, not optional.
Weekly brushing, more during shedding season
Short coat that's low-maintenance but sheds more than you'd expect. Weekly brushing reduces shedding. Clean facial wrinkles regularly if your Puggle inherits the Pug's facial folds. Check ears weekly since Beagle-style floppy ears trap moisture.
Recommended vet schedule: Annual exam, weight checks every 6 months
Three features that matter most for this breed:
Both parent breeds are food-obsessed โ logging every treat is the only way to prevent Puggle obesity
Set a 30-minute minimum to ensure enough exercise without overworking potentially compromised airways
Schedule 6-month weigh-ins to catch weight gain before it becomes a health problem
